Devastating Tornado in my Town

Hello everyone.  Well, I've spent the last week, as well as volunteers from all over the country, helping out my community of Joplin, MO recover from the catastrophic tornado that blew through.  I can't begin to tell you how this has affected me and everyone that lives here- live images literally take your breath away.  The tornado barely missed our house.  I'm sure everyone has seen the pictures of our tattered town... it's so sad, and the lives that were lost- some survivors will never be the same; I for one am going to be a lot more cautious the next time I hear a tornado siren.  May God continue to bless Joplin, there was supposed to be a second tornado blow through 2 days after the F-5 that we were struck with and finish off the town- but it died down before it hit the Missouri state line- and for that, I am thankful!  And- I am so thankful that it was not a school day!!

So- when I am not volunteering for, The American Red Cross, I am painting- it helps me to vent and it is just a great time to ponder upon life.  I am posting some pictures of some of the items I have painted.

I've Been Out On The Loose Again... Yard Salin' It!!!!

Got out again today- I was supposed to have my own Tag Sale today, but it's been rainy here in Missouri for almost all week- so I canceled my plans to pull my goods out, tag, and sell!  So- got out there and I guess you can see what I found!  I actually needed a hand mixer and found a PINK 1950's MODEL for $2.00 THAT WORKS!!!!  Excitement time!!!!!  Found that lovely robe too!
Ahhh... stories of yard sales reminds me of my Grandmother Ernestine!  She always loved rummaging for a bargain!  She would have loved my PINK HAND MIXER!  I actually have a newspaper clipping picture of her and my Granddad out walking/yard saling!  What a lady she was!

TV Dinner TRay Stand Project!!

So, what do you do with a TV dinner tray stand without the tray?  I decided to turn it into a hamper!  I had a Shabby Chic shower curtain that hadn't been in use for several years- so I doubled it and stitched up the ends. I used zip-ties to keep the stand in place and wrapped a ribbon around it to disguise the ties. I'm thinking about putting velcro around the top edge or continue using the clothespins just so you could easily wash the whole thing.
